George's Island Park History

Background:   A diverse Hudson River waterfront park, George’s Island contains tidal wetlands, a freshwater pond and woodlands surrounding picnic areas and a boat-launching ramp. A trail network links it to The Hudson River Greenway. This park has archeological significance and sensitive natural areas, especially along the shoreline. Recently completed projects include the construction of a new seawall in 1994, and the rehabilitation of the docks in 1995.
