Overnight Camp looking for a few good men/women. Age 18+, no license required, CPR certification helpful.  Beginning June 30 - August 17, 2008.
Room and board included.

CONSERVATION

…Designed to provide a climate of freedom and growth through sharing a safe, fun, educational experience in the outdoors.

Teacher/Naturalists to work as part of a team to develop and teach hands-on nature curriculum to children, facilitate camper’s observation of and participation in the natural world; topics included wildlife observation, field, forest, and aquatic ecology. Must supervise campers’ health and safety and communicate with camp staff and parents regularly.  Must be enthusiastic, flexible, have a good sense of humor, a passion for learning, and good teaching ability. Seven week program, M-F 9:00 – 3:00, Salary commensurate with experience.

Wilderness Experience Leaders for conservationists-in training program to develop and teach hands-on nature curriculum for young teens, conduct evening programs, co-lead backpacking and camping trips, lead team challenge course, and teach field biology techniques. Must be a positive role model, a creative and energetic teammate, and an excited leader. Background in environmental education adventure learning. Seven week program, M-F 9:00 – 5:00, Salary commensurate with experience.

Marine Biology Teacher/Naturalist to work as part of a team to teach hands-on marine biology curriculum to high school students.  Topics will include all manner of marine life, from microscopic plankton to top predators.  Must supervise students’ health and safety and communicate well with staff and parents.  Must be enthusiastic, flexible, have a good sense of humor, a passion for learning, and good teaching ability.  Prior marine biology experience or schooling preferred but not required. Seven week program, M-F 8:30 – 3:30. Salary commensurate with experience.

GARDENER POSITION


April thru September  2008   

Location:   Lasdon Park & Arboretum
  Somers, New York
   (Westchester County) 
   
Duties: Assist in maintaining a public arboretum which Includes 
  maintaining perennial beds, formal gardens, and seasonal  
  plantings.  Lasdon Park & Arboretum is a 235-acre
  Westchester County Park and the horticultural focal point in the
  County.
   
  A good position for a student or intern.
   
Hours:   Flexible 35- hour workweek that can include Weekends.
   
Pay rate: $10 - $15 per hour, Depending upon experience.

RECREATION ATTENDANT

Westchester Parks is looking for an individual to work part time at our Be Fit walking program at the Westchester Mall. The program runs Tuesdays and Fridays year round from 8 AM to 10 AM. Work includes registering new walkers, soliciting speakers for our once monthly healthy living presentations, collecting prizes to be awarded for walking milestones and keeping up with the day to day operations of the program. Applicant must be able to provide their own transportation. A background in health, nutrition, physical fitness or a related field is preferred.
