Comment: westchester county police is already covering 15000 acres of parkland,1700 miles of parkway and 65 miles of shore line, not to mention the airport, about 15 social services/welfare hotels and various other functions with about 100 patrol officers- it seems to me, that viewing the list of all these great properties we want to buy (and preserve), that maybe we would want to increase the size of the county police before we acquire more land that the police can't possibly cover!

Comment: camp smith should be purchased and utilized by the county police as a training center ,which could include the special weapons, driver training and aviation/harbor unit H.Q.,currently all the previously used locations have been closed down due to either population/development issues or lack of funding.

Comment: Hey Anonymous,

If you're paying $13,000 in property taxes surely you can afford a few bucks to buy open space.

And if you think more development means less residential taxes, wake up! Check out the taxes in downcounty towns along Central Ave.

More development = higher taxes. New developments almost never pay for the services they demand.

Comment: Hey, Susan, nobody stopped you from building on wetlands! Why is it AFTER you built, you don't want anymore building. Lets be real, Cortland needs commercial tax revenue. Homeowners can't carry the bill. $13,000 yearly in taxes for Cortlandt Manor is crazy! Perhaps your house needs to be re-assesed!

Comment: Camp Smith is a special place that connects the Hudson Highlands and the newly acquired Hillpoint Porperty. This is a wonderful section of the Hudson Valley. All of Camp Smith shoud be preserved.
