Comment: A document that records the transfer of Hunt Woods Park lands from the County to the City, dated 8 December, 1967 provides that the property may be used "solely and exclusively for park and recreation purposes".

Comment: I believe that these propoerties were formerly owned by the County, transferred to Mt Vernon in 1968. This property stretches from the Cross-County Pkwy just west of the eastbound Rt 22 exit to Gramatan Av, just south of Pondfield Road, broken only by E Devonia Av & Central Parkway. It is centered on Laurel Brook, which feeds into the Bronx River.

Comment: I understood that it was owned by Mount Vernon municipality, not by the County.

Comment: If Hunts Woods is already owned by the County, as the anonymous comment states, than it must be protected more diligently. New houses recently constructed in the area have landscaped their properties awfully close to the Bronx River. The county needs to make sure encroachment did not occur, nor bank erosion.
