Comment: The New York Districting program has provided rural farmers with an enhanced sense of security and modest protection against special assessment and eminent domain, but it has been relatively ineffective in reducing farmland conversion. It is clear that other preservation techniques are needed to ensure long-term agricultural commitment of this property,--ie, Agricultural Conservation Easement to ensure continued agricultural use of the property. A tenant farmer willing to farm this property would help, otherwise, mini-mansions are destined to sprout in the place of crops.
