So much to see close to home -- and you can save gasoline

July 01, 2008

As gas prices soar with no end in sight and the dollar continues to fall, there is more reason than ever to vacation in Westchester.

The county features thousands of acres of parkland, hiking and mountain biking trails, wildlife preserves, cultural events, beaches and a historic amusement park.

“We’re proud of all of the exciting events and countless activities Westchester has to offer,” said County Executive Andy Spano. “We’re only minutes north of New York City, so you can save time and fuel – travel, play and stay close to home.”

  • Summer is synonymous with fun and relaxation and “visitors” to Westchester can enjoy family fun at  two magnificent waterfronts –  the majestic Hudson River and beautiful Long Island Sound.
  • Westchester County offers exciting outdoor activities including concerts, theater, garden tours, and world class golf courses. These include the world- renowned International Music Festivals at Caramoor and many historical sites such as Lyndhurst and Kykuit, the Rockefeller Estate, museums, art galleries, antique shops, lush gardens and nature centers.
  • Westchester’s outstanding selection of restaurants offers something for everyone’s taste and budget including an impressive variety of international cuisines.
