Hoping to open even more doors for local businesses wanting to go global, County Executive Andy Spano recently met with Jie Liang and Carol Qiu from the Haidian Science Park in Beijing, China. Also pictured is Norman Jacknis, the county’s CIO, and Daisy Yau, head of the county’s Office for Asian-American Affairs & Business Development.
The meet-and-greet was a precursor to the Oct. 16 conference at the Hilton Rye Town on doing business in China sponsored by the county and the Beijing Investment Promotion Bureau. The county also arranged a series of presentations by Chinese-speaking staff on the different aspects of the county’s information technology efforts, such as the Geographic Information Systems.
The county plans to sign a cooperative agreement with the Haidian Science Park, a high-tech industrial park, to promote Westchester County in China as an attractive place for investment, as well as a base for their operations and research in the US.
