Three beaches open for Memorial Day weekend; Pools to open in June
Beaches open for Memorial Day weekend

County Parks Commissioner Joseph A. Stout announced today that the beaches at Playland Park in Rye, Glen Island Park in New Rochelle and Croton Point Park in Croton-on-Hudson will open on a pre-season basis beginning Memorial Day weekend, Saturday, Sunday and Monday, May 26, 27 and 28.

After Memorial Day, both Playland and Glen Island beaches will be open weekends only until Thursday, June 23, when all county-owned pools and beaches will open for the summer season. Croton Point Beach will continue to operate weekends and holidays only through Labor Day.
Swimming hours at all facilities are 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., with no admittance after 6 p.m.

COUNTY BEACHES 
Fees for swimming at Playland beach are $3 for adults and $2 for children ages 5 to 11; under 5 years old are admitted free. Seniors pay $1 on non-holiday weekdays only and must present a valid Westchester County Senior Citizen Park Pass. Seniors pay full adult price on weekends and holidays. Parking is $5 weekdays, $7 on weekends, and $10 on holidays at Playland.

Swimming fees at Glen Island are $3 for adults and $2 for children ages 5 to 11; children under 5 are admitted free. Seniors pay $1 on weekdays only and must present a valid Westchester County Senior Citizen Park Pass. Parking is $4.

Swimming at Croton Point Park is free; parking is $4 with a County Park Pass and $8 without the pass.
Playland Park in Rye can be reached via the New England Thruway, Playland Parkway, exit 19. Follow this to the park. For more information, call Playland Park at (914) 813-7010 or log on to www.ryeplayland.org.

Glen Island Park is located on Pelham Road in New Rochelle and can be reached via the New England Thruway, exit 15.  Head north on Route 1; head east at first traffic light onto Weyman Avenue, and follow this into the park. For more information, call Glen Island Park at (914) 813-6720.

Croton Point Park is located on Croton Point Avenue in Croton-on-Hudson and can be reached via Route 9, north or south. Exit at Croton Point Avenue and head west over the bridge into park. For more information, call Croton Point Park at (914) 862-5290.

COUNTY POOLS
Saxon Woods Pool in White Plains, Sprain Ridge and Tibbetts Brook pools, both in Yonkers, Willson’s Waves in Mount Vernon and Playland Pool in Rye will open for weekends only beginning Saturday, June 9; then daily beginning Saturday, June 23, through Labor Day. Fees for Park Pass holders are $5.75 for adults, $4 for children 12 and under, $3.75 for seniors weekdays only. Parking is included in admission fees.

A Season Swim Pass is available for families, individuals and seniors citizens who are Westchester County resident Park Pass holders only. The pass can be purchased and used at all swimming facilities except Playland pool and beach.
