American Civil Liberties Union (Lower Hudson Valley Chapter)

The ACLU's Lesbian and Gay Rights Project coordinates an extensive legal program and conducts a broad range of public policy and educational activities.

Empire State Pride Agenda

The Pride Agenda is New York’s statewide advocacy organization committed to winning equality and justice for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender New Yorkers. The website has information on how to get involved locally and statewide.

Family Pride Coalition

The Family Pride Coalition works to build local support groups for LGBT parents, to educate the public about families of LGBT people, and to secure civil rights for relationships and families.

Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation

GLAAD is dedicated to promoting and ensuring fair, accurate and inclusive representation of people and events in the media as a means of eliminating homophobia and discrimination based on gender identity and sexual orientation.

Human Rights Campaign

The Human Rights Campaign provides a national voice on gay and lesbian issues and works to advance equality based on sexual orientation and gender expression and identity.  Information on the web site includes the National Coming Out Project, HRC's FamilyNet and WorkNet.

Marriage Equality New York

This organization's sole purpose is to secure the freedom and the right of same-sex couples to legally marry.  The web site gives a comprehensive explanation of the facts about why marriage rights are important.

National Gay and Lesbian Task Force

NGLTF bills itself as "the national progressive organization working for the civil rights of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered people, with the vision and commitment to building a powerful political movement."  The web site provides tons of resources for organizing for change on local, state and national levels.

National Youth Advocacy Coalition

NYAC is a social justice organization that advocates for and with young people who are LGBT or questioning to end discrimination against these youth and to ensure their physical and emotional well being.
