The ACLU's Lesbian and Gay Rights Project coordinates an extensive legal program and conducts a broad range of public policy and educational activities.  (Lower Hudson Valley Chapter)
The Pride Agenda is New York’s statewide advocacy organization committed to winning equality and justice for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender New Yorkers. The website has information on how to get involved locally and statewide.
The Family Equality Council (formerly Family Pride) is the national advocacy organization committed to securing family equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer parents, guardians and allies. Our work consists of strategically linked initiatives—broad in scope, but simple in vision—love, justice, family, equality.
GLAAD is dedicated to promoting and ensuring fair, accurate and inclusive representation of people and events in the media as a means of eliminating homophobia and discrimination based on gender identity and sexual orientation.
 
The Human Rights Campaign provides a national voice on gay and lesbian issues and works to advance equality based on sexual orientation and gender expression and identity.  The Web site includes the National Coming Out Project, HRC's FamilyNet and WorkNet.
This organization's sole purpose is to secure the freedom and the right of same-sex couples to legally marry.  The web site gives a comprehensive explanation of the facts about why marriage rights are important.
The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force builds the grassroots power of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community by training activists, equipping state and local organizations with the skills needed to organize broad-based campaigns, and building the organizational capacity of our movement. NGLTF also hosts the National Conference on LGBT Equality: Creating Change, the premier national grassroots organizing and skills building LGBT conference.
NYAC is a social justice organization that advocates for and with young people who are LGBT or questioning to end discrimination against these youth and to ensure their physical and emotional well being.
