Training and Volunteering
There are many ways you can help keep our communities safe. The county departments of Emergency Services and Public Safety have a range of programs to further train professionals. In other instances, volunteers are needed and will be trained. 
The Department of Emergency Services has programs for firefighters to keep them up-to-date on the latest techniques, equipment, and hazards.  
The Citizen Police Academy is a 10-week program designed to give members of the public a working knowledge of the Westchester County Department of Public Safety and the criminal justice system it serves.
Westchester Emergency Volunteer Reserves and Medical Reserve Corps forms.
 
The Volunteer Center, in coordination with Westchester County’s Department of Emergency Services, is recruiting and training volunteers in emergency preparedness and response. These volunteers may be called into action should a large-scale disaster occur.
Register with the United Way’s Volunteer Center. That way you can find volunteer opportunities in your area. 
Westchester’s Medical Reserve Corps gives medical and public health officials a way to volunteer during a large scale disaster or emergency
