Scholarship opportunities for outstanding students

***Deadline extended to March 7

Westchester County works collaboratively with the Jandon Foundation to award college scholarships to academic achievers whose families are on public assistance or living below the poverty level.  This program combines the Cecil family's philanthropy with the Spano administration's philosophy of breaking the welfare cycle through education.

The Jandon Scholars program began in 1999 and currently boasts three classes of students who have graduated from college and a total of 96 students who were awarded the scholarship.  In past years, 12-15 scholarships are awarded for $10,000 per student over four years of college. In addition to the scholarship money, Jandon Scholars are treated to social events during the year for networking, advice and support.

“I promise that I will make [The Cecils’] investment in me, an investment that you will never regret.  I will strive to make you proud.”  -Tyrone Shaw, 2006 Jandon Scholar attending Syracuse University
