Software Architect I
Minimum
Acceptable
Training
and
Experience:
Either
(a) a Bachelor's Degree* and one year of experience (pre-or post-degree)
designing and programming application software in Java; or (b) a
Bachelor's Degree* and possession of Java certification; or (c)
a Bachelor's Degree* or a Master's Degree* in Computer Science, Information Technology, or closely
related field which included or was supplemented by a computer programming
course† in,
or including coursework in Java, software architecture, and a course†
in database design (see definition).

Notes:
Definition:
A course in database design is defined as a course that covers how to analyze,
classify and maintain an organization's data and data relationships and develop
data models and data dictionaries.
Note:
Experience solely on a home personal computer may not be used as a substitute
for the aforementioned experience.
*Special
Note:
Education beyond the secondary level must be from an
institution recognized or accredited by the Board of Regents
of the New York State Education Department as a
post-secondary, degree-granting institution.
†Note:
For the coursework in Java and database design, the only
courses that will be accepted are courses taken at the
recognized colleges and universities (as defined above in
Special Note), or a vendor approved course from a
commercial business.
Salary
Range:
$64,685 - $86,220
