Network Engineer II
Minimum
Acceptable
Training
and
Experience:
A high school or equivalency diploma and either:
(a) two years of experience where the primary function of the position was the
installation, operation, maintenance and problem-diagnosis of network equipment
including hubs, routers and switches; or (b) a Bachelor's Degree* which included
or was supplemented by 30 credits* in computer science, information technology,
or a closely related field and one year of experience as stated in (a); or (c) a
satisfactory equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the
limits of (a) and (b).
Special
Notes:
Substitution:
Certification from a network training program that is vendor-approved (Cisco
Systems, XYLAN Corp., Nortel or Bay Networks) may be substituted for one year of
the above stated experience.
Special Requirement:
Possession of a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in the State of New
York at time of appointment.
*Note:
Education beyond the secondary level must be from an
institution recognized or accredited by the Board of Regents
of the New York State Education Department as a
post-secondary, degree-granting institution.
Special Note:
Unless otherwise noted, only experience gained after attaining
the minimum education level indicated in the minimum
qualifications will be considered in evaluating experience.
Salary
Range:
$64,685 - $86,220
