As we age, so do our our eyes and our ears. The likelihood of diminished vision and hearing increases as we grow older. As adults reach their forties, they may develop presbyopia, a condition where the eye can no longer focus at close range. As we reach our sixties, we may have a hard time hearing soft tones or dislike loud sounds. We need to take as much care of our eyes and ears as we do other parts of our bodies.
Follow your health care provider's suggestions about ways maintain your hearing and vision. Ask whether hearing and/or low vision aids will help you with daily tasks if you've begun to experience difficulties.
