Diabetes
Early detection and treatment of diabetes prevents later complications

If your family has a history of diabetes, ask your doctor to screen your children for diabetes. You should also have their blood pressure and cholesterol levels verified too.

If your child develops symptons of high blood sugar from diabetes, they may experience:

  • Increased thirst
  • Increased urination
  • Weight loss
  • Fatigue
  • Increased appetite

These symptoms usually develop over a few days to weeks. Some people have these symptoms before they are diagnosed, but do not realize the symptoms are caused by diabetes. They may believe the symptoms are caused by the flu or some other illness.

Here is information that may be helpful in further understanding diabetes.
