The Solid Waste Program's goal is the management and disposal of solid wastes in accordance with the laws and regulations of the county and state.  Specifically, the Health Department is active in those aspects of solid waste management pertaining to sanitary hazards as well as the  aesthetic offenses likely to arouse public concern.   Public health professionals conduct inspections and issue permits to regulate firms, vehicles, refuse disposal areas, composting sites and refuse transfer stations.
