Beginning
on April 2002, all Septic System Contractors are required to be
licensed by the Westchester County Department of Health.
County Executive Andrew Spano
announces Septic
Management Program to protect the water quality of Westchester
County. The Health Department would license and train septic company
workers to ensure proper work is done.
Beginning on April 1, 2002, each and every person who provides or offers to provide services as a Septic System Contractor in Westchester County must have obtained a license from the Westchester County Commissioner of Health in accordance with the requirements of Article VIII of the Sanitary Code for Westchester County.
No person may provide or offer to provide services as a Septic System Contractor after April 1, 2002, without first having obtained such a license.
What are the Application Requirements?
- Any individual who seeks to operate as a Septic System contractor must submit an application to the Westchester County Department of Health.
- An initial non-refundable application fee is required at the time the application is submitted.
- Every applicant will be required to participate in a Licensing Instruction Program developed and implemented by the Westchester County Department of Health. This program shall include course work in the areas of septic system construction, installation and operation and standard examinations relating to the matters covered by such course work.
What are the Fees?
- Original Application Fee:
$200.00 /applicant
- License Instruction Program Fee:
$100.00 /applicant for initial exam; $25.00 for re-issuance of exam
and/or for renewal examinations
- License/Renewal Fee:
$200.00 /license
(License is valid for two(2) years)
