Health educators work to protect and promote public health.  Educators appeal to the universal desire to avoid illness by advocating sound health habits and by motivating County residents to avail themselves of existing health services.

Health education is a vital component of preventive health care.  Through our Speakers Bureau, public health personnel frequently speak on important health issues at schools, service organization, hospitals, churches, community agencies and other organizations.

Health professionals publicize potential and actual public health emergencies, public health crises and health information through the effective use of the media. Working together with local and national news publications as well as cable and national television and radio, our health messages reach the public.

Health educators write and produce literature, slide presentations and health exhibits.  Public health staff distribute health literature to residents free of charge and loan slide shows and exhibits to the public for use at community events and other occasions.
