The Westchester County
Sanitary Code, Chapter 873 of the Local Laws of Westchester, consists of laws
enforced by the Westchester County Board of Health and the Westchester County Department
of Health to assure the health of the public.
Through the Westchester County Sanitary Code,
a wide variety of activities in the County are regulated.. Among these activities are the
permitting, licensing, and operation of food service establishments, water supplies,
sewage and refuse disposal, realty subdivisions, air quality, children's camps,
animal facilities, and water pollution control. Regulations also address
communicable diseases, sexually transmitted diseases, nuisances and sanitation ,
tuberculosis control, smoking and indoor air quality, x-ray equipment, hotels and motels,
migrant labor camps, and mobile parks.
Violations of the Sanitary Code can result in
fines assessed by the Board of Health and possible closure of facilities in violation of
the Code.
