AN OPPORTUNITY TO RECOGNIZE PUBLIC
HEALTH LEADERS
The Westchester County Board of Health is seeking
nominations for this year’s Distinguished Public Health Service Award. Nominations will be accepted until February
6, 2006.
The Distinguished Public Health
Service Award is presented annually during Public Health Week in early April to
an individual or community-based organization that exemplifies a commitment to
public health and distinguishes themselves in the community during the past
year.
“The awardees of the Distinguished
Public Health Service Award represent Westchester’s finest,” stated Dr. Douglas
Aspros, President, Westchester County Board of Health. “As individuals and community agencies, they
have recognized the mission of public health in our county and have responded
with creativity and generosity to assist the Board of Health in accomplishing
its mission to promote the health of the public.”
“This is an opportunity to say ‘Thank
You’ to a public health professional or an agency as a whole that provides
vital public health services to Westchester residents,” stated Dr. Joshua
Lipsman, Commissioner of Health.
“Nominations are encouraged for persons and agencies that are making a
difference in promoting the mission of public health in the community. We want to recognize their achievements and
honor them as role models who inspire all of us to work for the public health
of Westchester’s residents,” Dr. Lipsman added.
Past recipients have included: Ms.
Michele Quirolo and the staff of the Visiting Nurse Association of Hudson
Valley, 2005; Westchester County Board of Legislators, 2004; Mr. Jeff Byrne, Asthma Management
Program at St. John’s Riverside Hospital in Yonkers, 2003; Teen Task Force on Youth Empowerment and
