| The Westchester County Department of Health, in conjunction with the American Cancer Society, will sponsor a breakfast seminar, "Breast Cancer Early Detection Approaches," on Tuesday, October 26, 1999, 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., at the Crowne Plaza in White Plains. Andrew J. Spano, Westchester County Executive and Dr. Harold N. Adel, Commissioner of Health for Westchester County will open the breakfast with a welcome address. They will be followed with remarks by Susan True, M. Ed., Director, Bureau of Chronic Disease Services, New York State Department of Health, and Gary Burd, Executive Vice President, American Cancer Society. The featured speaker will be Abraham Mittelman, M.D., Associate Professor of Medicine and Associate Director of Oncology, New York Medical College. The Westchester County Department of Health and the American Cancer Society will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Breast Health Program and recognize their Community Partners with award presentations. The Westchester County Breast Health Program has been providing breast cancer screening services to uninsured and underinsured women in Westchester County for the last ten years. Screenings are held at over thirty sites in the community including community centers, worksites and health fairs. The program now reaches over 3,000 women each year and is funded by a grant from the Centers for Disease Control through the New York State Department of Health. Anyone wishing to attend the breakfast seminar should call Jean LePere of the American Cancer Society at 949-4800. There is a $5.00 registration fee, which includes a full breakfast. Seating is limited, so those wishing to attend should register prior to the event.
