Mosquito spraying cancelled tonight                (914) 637-4715

The Westchester County Department of Health announced today that, due to weather conditions, the mosquito spraying scheduled for the evening of October 5, 1999 has   rescheduled for October 12, 1999.

"When weather conditions are such that evening temperatures fall into the low 50s or below the 50 degree mark, mosquito activity diminishes to the extent that spraying is not effective," stated Dr. Ada J. Huang, Deputy Commissioner for Disease Control , Westchester County Department of Health. "At this time of the year, we have been advised by federal and state officials,   that  conditions   unfavorable for mosquito control efforts are common. However, since the mosquitoes are expected to be active until after several hard frosts occur, it has been recommended that mosquito control efforts continue on those evenings when conditions are favorable," she continued.

Updates for mosquito spraying can be obtained on our website, www.westchestergov.com, or by calling the Westchester County Health Hotline at (914) 285-2032.
