COMPLETE SCHEDULE OF SPRAYING FOR NORTHERN WESTCHESTER RELEASED MOSQUITO SPRAYING TO START MONDAY AND CONTINUE THROUGH SUNDAY

County Executive Andy Spano today announced a complete schedule of northern Westchester communities that will be sprayed beginning Monday to stop the spread of the West-Nile like virus.

The area north of I-287 will be sprayed between Monday, October 4th and Sunday, October 10th to reduce mosquito populations.

The schedule will be completed as indicated, conditions permitting. If it should rain on one of these days, spraying for that day will be canceled and rescheduled at the end of the cycle to avoid disruption of the entire schedule. Spraying will start each evening at approximately 6:30 pm. Every effort will be made to conclude the spraying by 9 pm.

The schedule for spraying is as follows:

Monday, October 4th

Sleepy Hollow and parts of Ossining, Briarcliff Manor, Tarrytown, Mount Pleasant, Croton-on-Hudson, Elmsford, and Greenburgh.

The area to be sprayed is bordered on the west by the Hudson River, on the south by I-287, on the north by Route 9A, and on the east by the Taconic State Parkway and the Bronx River Parkway.

Tuesday, October 5th

Mount Kisco, Purchase, Chappaqua, Armonk, Thornwood and Hawthorne and parts of the following communities: Harrison, North Castle, Mount Pleasant, New Castle, Bedford, Bedford Hills, Village of Rye Brook, Valhalla, White Plains and Greenburgh.

The area to be sprayed is bordered on the west by the Taconic State Parkway and the Bronx River Parkway, on the south by I-287 and the Hutchinson River Parkway; on the east by Route 120A (the Connecticut border) and I-684.

 

Wednesday, October 6

Peekskill, Buchanan, Cortlandt, Croton-on-Hudson, and parts of the following communities: New Castle, Yorktown, Mount Pleasant, Briarcliff Manor, and Ossining.

The area to be sprayed is bordered on the north by the Putnam County Border; on the east, by the Taconic State Parkway; on the south, by Route 9A, and on the west by the Hudson River.

 

Thursday, October 7th

New Castle, Mount Pleasant, Yorktown, Somers, Pleasantville, Bedford, and Mount Kisco.

The area to be sprayed is bordered by the Taconic State Parkway on the west; by Route 35 on the north; and by the Saw Mill River Parkway and I-684 on the east.

 

Friday, October 8th

Parts of the communities of North Salem, Somers, Yorktown, and Lewisboro.

The area to be sprayed is bordered on the north by the Putnam County border; on the east by the Connecticut state border; on the south by Route 116 and I-684 and Route 35; and on the west by the Taconic State Parkway.

 

Saturday, October 9th

Parts of the communities of Bedford, North Salem, Lewisboro, and Pound Ridge.

The area to be sprayed is bordered on the west by I-684; on the north by Route 116; on the east by the Connecticut state border; and on the south by Beaver Dam Road, Girdle Ridge Road, Route 137 and Route 124.

Sunday, October 10th

Parts of the communities of Bedford, North Castle, and Pound Ridge.

The area to be sprayed is bordered on the north by Beaver Dam Road, Girdle Ridge Road, Route 137, and Route 124; on the south by the Connecticut state border; and on the west by I-684.

The County will offer free insect repellent containing DEET, in strengths for children and adults, at local firehouses over the weekend and that residents should contact their local fire departments after 5 p.m. on Sunday to find out how to get the repellent.
