Sewage Overflow                                                          (914) 637-4713

The Westchester County Department of Health was today notified that a small, but unknown quantity of chlorinated sewage may have entered the Hutchinson River from the Hutchinson River Pump Station in Pelham this morning during the heavy rains. Due to the heavy downpour of rain, for a two-hour period ending at 11:50 am this morning, the Pump Station was operating at its maximum capacity of 13 million gallons per day. Some quantity of diluted, chlorinated sewage may have overflowed at that time into the Hutchinson River.

This is classified as a Level I spill. There are no health or environmental impacts anticipated from this overflow.
