Sewage Treatment Plant Exceedance                                 (914) 637-4713

The Westchester County Department of Health today was notified that the effluent from the Ossining Waste Water Treatment Plant on February 15, 1999 exceeded their effluent limitation for settleable solids.   This was caused in part by an incinerator being out of      service, causing a buildup of solids in the system.  There was no health impact related to this exceedance.

A similar exceedance of settleable solids occurred at the Mamaroneck Waste Water       Treatment Plant on February 2,5,11, 12, and 15, 1999.   The plant operators are              re-adjusting operational parameters to assure compliance with permit limitations.  There is no health impact related to this exceedance.
