The Westchester County Department of Health was
notified today that the Westchester County Department of Environmental
Facilitys Blind Brook Waste Water Treatment Plant exceeded their permit for
settleable solids on Thursday, August 24,2000 between the hours of 8am and
3pm. An average of 1.7mg/l for
settleable solids during this time frame was calculated; this exceeds the
permitted amount 0.3 mg/l.
One of the two secondary settling tanks was offline at the time of the permit violation for a scheduled repair. The repair is now complete and the tank is in the process of being put back into service.
This is a Level I release. There is no public health impact anticipated from this discharge.
