 Kensico School to Celebrate

International Walk to School Day on October 6, 2004

 

WHAT:                       Kensico School  in Valhalla, NY will join schools from around the world to celebrate International Walk to School Day on Wednesday, October 6, 2004. 

 

WHO:                         Kensico School Children from 3rd to 5th Grade

                                   

WHERE:                   Lakeside Park on Westlake Drive in Valhalla, NY

 

WHEN:                      Gather at 8:00 to AM, walk to begin at 8:10 AM         

 

 

SIGNIFICANCE:      Approximately 150 students from Kensico School will be walking to school that day along with parents, teachers and community leaders. Mt. Pleasant Police Department and Valhalla Volunteer Ambulance Corp. will be present to ensure the safety of the children.

 

Now in its eighth year, International Walk to School Day is expected

to include 3,000 schools from all 50 states. The idea is to walk to school together with a purpose  — to promote health, safety, physical activity and concern for the environment. Walkers from the U.S. will join children and adults in 36 countries around the world. The Wednesday event is part of a week of festivities celebrating International Walk to School Week (October 4-8, 2004).

 

This event is being organized by Health and Safety Committee of the Kensico PTA.
