On Tuesday, March 21, 2006, the Student Senate, along with Ms. DePalma, their teacher-advisor and Ms. Faith Lippe, a member of the district's "Wellness Committee" and a nutritionist, met to "taste-test" Nugo Protein Bars, a new product to be introduced into the AMD Cafeteria lunch fare this spring. The Senate had the weighty decision of deciding which of four flavors should be made available to the student body. Four bars were "tasted and critiqued"--Really Vanilla, Orange Smoothie, Banana Chocolate and Chocolate Blast. Votes were tallied and comments were noted during each round. Really Vanilla received the most votes (l9) followed by Banana Chocolate (l8), a close second. It was decided that all four flavors would be offered to the student body and that we would later eliminate those flavors which did not sell well. Additionally, the students had the opportunity to share with Ms. Lippe their other comments about the cafeteria offerings. Our thanks to Ms. Lippe and Ms. DePalma for their orchestration of this event!
