Day #4 without cigs. I smoked
for 10 years, quit for 9 years (had kids) then started again about 7
years ago. My cigarette habit is a heavy weight on me. I
really enjoy smoking, BUT, I'm sick of being a prisoner to the
addiction. I want to live and breathe easily. The cost,
the smell, the dangers, the inconvenience - nothing positive.
I went to a hypnotist. Paid
$270 for three one-on-one, hour and 1/2 sessions. The
hypnotist was experienced and professional, and made my sessions
very personalized. One, of the suggestions that really seems
to be helping: have a bottle or glass of water next to you.
When a craving strikes, take a sip and imagine the water
extinguishing that craving. The visual works for me. I
also take long, deep breaths and imagine my lungs getting healthier
and pinker by the minute.
I've quit before and lasted up to
two weeks. I feel like once I make it past that 14 day mark,
I'll be fine. I don't have elusions that it will be easy, and
I didn't expect the hypnotism to be quick fix; it was just a tool to
help me get over the emotional clock I had about quitting.
As they say; one day at a time.
Good luck to all of you quitters out there!
