County Executive Andy Spano and Westchester Community College President Joseph Hankin are hosting a public forum on Westchester's Global Warming Action Plan. The County Executive and members of the task force will present details of the Action Plan, and will solicit feedback from the public.
The event will be held Tuesday, March 11, 7-9 p.m. in the Classroom Building on the college's Valhalla Campus, 75 Grasslands Road.
Come learn about the action plan and what you can do now to help prevent further climate change.
The Action Plan, developed by County Executive Spano's Task Force on Global Warming, was released Feb. 26. The task force of more than a hundred professionals shared its detailed short-term and long-term recommendations on how businesses, governments, schools and households can help to reduce global warming. It may be viewed at

Prior to the event, come to a Zero Waste Café reception from 6-7 p.m. also in the Classroom Building. The college’s food service department is working with Neil Cutler of the Synergis – Zero Waste Café Group on the Café, which will use a very small amount of manufactured materials, resulting in a minimal amount of waste.
Earlier this year, Westchester Community College students and faculty participated in what was billed as one of the nation’s largest teach-ins in history. Nearly 2,000 campuses across the country focused on global warming education during the
Focus the Nation event, an unprecedented educational initiative on global warming solutions for America. The goal of this day of workshops and lectures was intended to help prepare students to become leaders in the largest civilizational challenge any generation has faced.
