Fireworks start out with a bang at Playland Park and Kensico Dam Plaza

July is upon us once again, which means another season of dazzling fireworks in Westchester County Parks.

Fireworks displays over Long Island Sound will take place every Wednesday and Friday evening at 9:15 p.m. at Playland Park in Rye starting Wednesday, July 2, through the end of August except for Friday, July 4, when the show will start at 9:30 p.m. There will also be a display on Thursday, July 3, at 9:30 p.m. The park’s operating schedule is available on the Playland Web site or calling (914) 813-7010. Admission to Playland is always free. Parking is $5 on non-holiday weekdays, $7 on weekends, and $10 on July 4.

Playland is located in Rye and can be reached via the New England Thruway (I-95), Playland Parkway exit 19. Follow this directly into Playland.

On Thursday, July 3, the annual free Kensico Dam Music Fest will feature a performance of American classic music by the renowned Westchester Philharmonic with special guest conductor Alondra de la Parra. Pre-concert entertainment will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a performance by the Stages Band.  A fireworks display in front of the dam will follow at approximately 9:15 p.m.

The Kensico Dam Plaza is located at the north end of the Bronx River Parkway in Valhalla and may be reached via Route 22 or the Taconic State Parkway. For information, call (914) 864-PARK or log on to Westchester County Parks and Tourism.
