Financial Workshops
Learn about managing debt Nov. 19

Anyone who is unemployed, struggling to make ends meet and open to learning how to improve their situation may want to attend the upcoming workshop offered by the Westchester One Stop Employment Center.

The workshop series, titled “Managing Your Finances in a Down Economy,” includes a final seminar on  Nov. 19 that will provide information and decision-making tools to help participants address financial challenges. Targeted to Westchester residents who are unemployed or facing a job transition, the seminars are jointly sponsored by Westchester County’s Office of Workforce Investment and Community Capital Resources, a not-for-profit Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) that provides financial and consumer workshops.

These workshops are part of a county-wide financial education initiative that includes a money management Web site and a "Dollar Sense" workshop series that has been offered throughout the year.

The workshops offer practical training and information about managing everyday finances, in light of the difficult choices that families face due to loss of income from unemployment. Topics include controlling cash flow, making a budget, managing debt and credit, and will provide guidance in putting together a personal action plan. The program is open to the public.

The remaining workshop will be given on Thursday,  Nov. 19, 2009, from 1:30 to 4 p.m., at the Westchester One Stop Employment Center, 120 Bloomingdale Road in White Plains. Space is limited and interested individuals should register by calling (914) 995-3910 or e-mailing att1@westchestergov.com
