Compost Bin Sale
Reserve Your Bin by May 16 to Receive a Free Kitchen Scrap Bucket

Come to Saxon Woods Park for our annual compost bin sale.  Your visit alone entitles you to receive free compost and free professional advice about your lawn and garden. Experts from the Horticulturists of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Westchester will be on site all day to answer your questions.

Composting helps in our efforts to recycle our waste.  As insignificant as it may seem at first blush, our vegetable scraps, leaves and grass trimmings do add  up. These organic materials represent a significant fraction of the solid waste generated in the U.S.  Recyling them through small-scale composting has a double advantage.  It means sending less waste to landfills and incinerators while offering an environmentally sound way of recycling organic materials.

Read more about Small Scale or Backyard Composting by The Cornell Waste Management Institute (CWNI). The CWNI provides information for both composters and educators seeking to promote home composting.  Resources include a guide for developing Master Composter programs, information relevant to composting at schools, as well as fact sheets, videos and information on locating home compost demonstration sites in New York Sate.
