Software Architect I (GIS)

The Westchester County Department of Information Technology seeks a qualified developer to join a dynamic team of GIS professionals. 

Requirements:

  • Either (a) a Bachelor’s Degree and one year of experience (pre- or post-degree) designing and programming application software in Java; or (b) a Bachelor’s Degree and possession of Java certification; or (c) a Bachelor’s Degree or a Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or closely related field which included or was supplemented by a computer programming course in, or including coursework in Java, software architecture, and a course in database design.
  • Other desired programming skills include: ASP, JavaScript, Java J2EE, Crystal Reports, PL/SQL, Oracle Reports, GUI Design
  • Experience in GIS application development and programming using ESRI 9.X products including ArcGIS Server, ArcIMS, ArcGIS Desktop and ArcSDE. Technical programming skills include Java, .NET, ArcObjects, JavaScript, ASP, HTML, DHTML, XML and ArcXML, etc.
  • Desired experience in building or integrating custom GIS web applications using ArcGIS Server Java/J2EE platform and .NET Framework for ArcIMS Applications.
  • Preferred experience in designing, implementing and configuring web-based GIS enterprise applications using the latest information technology such as XML, SOAP, Web services, Java, and service-oriented architecture.
  • Knowledge of ArcSDE on Oracle RAC 10.2 with Dataguard.
  • Experience working with relational databases such as MS SQL Server and Oracle
  • Ability to understand and work with complex database schemas and data types
  • TOAD or Oracle SQL+
  • Thorough knowledge of the fundamental concepts of server and client operating systems, including experience installing software packages on Windows and Unix servers
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, establish effective working and vendor relationships, good documentation skills
  • Ability to implement, support and integrate computer packages
  • Thoroughness and attention to detail, resourcefulness, initiative, imagination and good judgment and problem solving skills

Salary Range:
$57,333 – 76,420
