The NYS "STAR" Programs
New York State has three so-called Star Programs: Basic, which almost all homeowners can qualify for; Enhanced, for income-qualifying seniors; and Middle Class, a program that was launched in 2007 and may be extended in 2008.

County Executive Andy Spano is concerned that thousands of homeowners are not getting the rebates they are entitled to because they don't know about the Star programs or fail to apply for them.

On these pages find out if you qualify and how easy it is to apply. (Note: The references to Middle Class Star deal with how the program worked last year. Information will be updated if the program is  renewed by the state Legislature.)

Explanations of Basic Star, Enhanced Star and the new Middle Class Star programs.
A link to the FAQ section put together by the state that explains the Middle Class Star program.
You must be a homeowner AND be a recipient of Basic Star. And you will need some information that the state will send you. Here is the state form to fill out online or print.
