Westchester County's fully modernized highway network is one of the best
in the nation. From central Westchester County it is about a half an hour
or less to midtown Manhattan, to northern New Jersey or Long Island and
to southwestern Connecticut.
The Westchester County Airport's new and modern passenger terminal offers business
travelers access to 640 commercial flights daily. The airport's major carriers
include American, Continental, Northwest, United and USAir.
The County is served by one of the finest commuter rail systems in the world,
the Metro-North Commuter Railroad, operated by the Metropolitan
Transportation Authority (MTA), has 3 separate lines to serve commuters.
There are 44 stations throughout the County, providing extensive, on-time rail
service for more than 100,000 daily commuters with access to Grand Central Terminal
in an hour or less.
Amtrak provides long-distance
passenger service and links Westchester County to cities throughout the Northeast
corridor and across the US and Canada.
The County's award-winning Bee-Line Bus System operates 300 buses daily on more
than 50 routes. Direct linkages with frequent service are available from Putnam,
Rockland, Orange, and Dutchess Counties in New York and from neighboring Fairfield
County, Connecticut, including Greenwich and Stamford. Express bus services
also link Westchester County with the Bronx and Manhattan.
