A.M. Visit to the Foreign Investment District
The premier foreign investment district for American companies doing business in China. The Wall Street of the Far East.
Visit to the Children’s Palace
Children come here to study performing arts, calligraphy, and ancient handicrafts, as well as science and technologies. Once the palatial home of a Shanghai millionaire.
P.M. Meeting with Shanghai Government and University officials
Officials include Division Chief for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Ho; Vice Bureau Chief and Tourism and Trade Commissioner, Mr. Y.L. Choong; Foreign Affairs representative for Shanghai University, Mr. C. Ren; and the Vice President of Shanghai University. Topics will include trade relations and potential education exchanges.

Monday, September 7th - Shanghai/Xiamen

P.M. Lunch meeting and tour with Huli District Government
Officials include Mr. Zhang Shan-Jie, Director General of the Huli Government of Xiamen, Mr. Chen Ming, Director of Huli Economic Affairs & Trade Bureau, and Mr. Zhou Ke-Fang, Director of Heshan Town, Huli, Xiamen.
Visit to Xiamen High Tech Zone
Hosted by Mr. Zhihu Su, Vice-General Manager of Xiamen Torch High Tech Industrial Development Corporation. A state level industrial development zone (industrial park) with businesses in the electronics, information technology, and photo-mechatronics industries.
Meeting with Xiamen City Government President and Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economics at People’s Great Hall of Xiamen.
An informal meeting prior to the start of Second China Fair for International Investment and Trade, scheduled for 9/8 - 9/12
Reception hosted by Madam Wu Yi, a senior Foreign Trade Councilor from Xiamen City
Reception with Mayor Law Zhi Ping and Deputy Secretary-General, Mr. Shum Jean of Nanjing.
The Mayor and Deputy Secretary General are traveling to Xiamen (three-hour flight) to meet with County Executive Spano and the delegation to express their city’s interest in exchanges with Westchester County businesses involved in the computer and electronics industry.

Tuesday, September 8th -  Xiamen

A.M. Video teleconference between Chinese and Westchester business communities
A live transmission (9:30 P.M. EDT) linking nine mid-sized Westchester County businesses representing several areas of trade potential with their Chinese counterparts for an informal and spontaneous exchange of ideas and business opportunities.
Agreement between Xiamen and Westchester business groups
Signing of an agreement between the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (Xiamen Subcouncil) and the Westchester County Association. The agreement will help to develop economic and trade cooperation and to promote the friendly relationship between the two entities.
P.M. China Trade Fair Opening Reception
Hosted by Mr. Shi Guangsheng, Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation, P.R.C. (MOFTEC); Madam Ma Xiuhong of Xiamen and Deputy Minister of MOFTEC; and Madam Wu Yi, state councilor, Xiamen.
China Trade Fair – General Business Session
Topic: "Strategies and Experiences of Investing in China"
Featuring four guest speakers/representatives from the Trans-national Corporation.

Hosted by Chinese government officials, local businessmen and project managers. 1,500 guests anticipated.

Wednesday, September 9th - Xiamen/Wuhan/Jingzhou

Jingzhou is a sister city to Westchester County. A delegation from Jingzhou City visited Westchester in the Spring of 1998 and presented the County with a pavilion, which is on display at the County’s Lasdon Park and Arboretum in Somers.

P.M. Meeting with Hubei Province Government official
Mr. Zhang Hong Xiang, Deputy Governor of Hubei Province, will discuss trade and investment with the delegation.
Reception with Jingzhou Government officials
Senior economic consultant, Mr. Liu, Mayor (Mr.) Li Ping, Deputy Mayor (Mr.) Yuen, and Foreign Affairs officer Mr. Wang Cuhua.

Thursday, September 10th - Jingzhou

A.M. Visit to Jingzhou Government offices
County is expected to sign an agreement of cooperation with the Jingzhou government.
Visit to Jingzhou’s children’s orphanage
Brenda Resnick Spano, the County’s Child Care Advocate will tour the facility and will be honored by the Sister City by participating in an ancient custom which calls for inscribing words of encouragement and goodwill on a permanent place of honor within the orphanage. Ms. Resnick Spano is the first person so honored by the orphanage.
Visit to the Sanoda Corporation
Fortune 500 company in China. Major products include fertilizers, pharmaceuticals, and clothing. Firm is interested in arranging a joint venture with a Westchester business.
P.M. Visit to Jingzhou Central Hospital
A tour of the hospital that already has an exchange program in effect with the Westchester Medical Center.
Meeting with Jingzhou business and trade community
Area is known for packaging, dental products, and manufacturing of gift items.
Visit to Shashi University
Meeting with University President Zhou, and members of the faculty to discuss potential academic exchanges.

A meeting to discuss potential academic exchanges with Pace University and Westchester Community College.
Meeting with Mr. Wang Jin Chen, Director-General of China Chamber of Commerce
P.M. Agreement between Beijing and Westchester Family Services
Ms. Resnick Spano will deliver documents from Westchester Family Service to Ms. Chu Xioying, Director of Document Review for the government agency in Beijing that handles all foreign adoptions, expediting Westchester Family Services as to receive official status allowing it to directly handle the adoption of Chinese children.
Business meeting hosted by Pfizer Corporation
Hosted by Mr. John Lee, Country Manager, and Ms. Feng Danlong, Corporate Affairs.
