Hong Kong - Sunday, March 26, 2006
Last Day

Today was wrap-up and analysis day.  We met with Henry Luk, whose company in Guangzhou, China, did great work in helping put together the electronic magazine for us.  We discussed what we learned and what we can do better in the future – and how we might gain more publicity for Westchester companies in China.

In addition, we had the opportunity to meet with the Sue Waivada, the daughter of the Executive Director of Westchester’s Industrial Development Agency, Teri Waivada.  Ms. Sue Waivada is on a year-long assignment in Hong Kong for Higgins Purchasing Group and was thus able to provide us with a combination of on-the-ground business experience in China and a Westchester viewpoint.

The Trip Home And Final Wrap Up

From this point on, it’s just a question of time – about two days – to get home, including an overnight layover in Tokyo-Narita Airport.

The trip was a big success on the education front as far as the Briarcliff folks were concerned.  This can only help us all in the future as these kids (in Westchester and China) grow up and become decision makers on their own.

On the business front, despite the original bad news from Lenovo, we were able to salvage most of the jobs in a Lenovo regional center in Westchester and get their significant assistance in on-going cooperation with China.  In general, this trip gave us higher and better business contacts for Westchester companies than ever before.  If we keep up the long term commitment that the Chinese IT companies said was essential for success there, we will be one of the success stories in America as this global economy hurtles forward.
