More IT Companies
Monday night we met with a few more Chinese IT companies,
including JR Soft (a systems integrator and software house), AOA (specializing
in computer-based training), and Censoft (a well-connected, enterprise systems
firm). They were primarily interested in getting more products to sell into
the Chinese market. We discussed the various Westchester companies that might
be of interest to them and will arrange for videoconferencing and other follow
up when we get back to Westchester.

They noted that there were three principles to success in the
Chinese market: government support (which the County’s contacts have provided);
localization of the products to the Chinese market (which these companies can
help provide); and a long-term commitment on the part of the American companies
(relationships and successes take time to build in China).
We also discussed with JR Soft the idea of establishing a local
agent in Beijing, similar to the Westchester desk in Milan, Italy, that would scout out opportunities for Westchester companies and help with the literal and
cultural translation needed between our companies and those in China.
