County Executive Andy Spano's
2005 Trade Delegation to China

Wuhan -Thursday, March 24, 2005

Today is a three-city day. We started off in Jingzhou with a 5:45 AM wake up call, so we could get to the bus and make the long drive to the city of Wuhan (capital of Hubei Province and home to 8 million people). In the past, the counties in the Hudson Valley had various trade and cultural connections with Wuhan through a program called "Windows on Wuhan."

Our primary interest was the historic and prestigious Wuhan University, among the top ten in China. Pace President Caputo and other Pace staff discussed various exchange and student recruitment programs with the Wuhan University staff. The picture below shows County Executive Spano, Board Chairman Ryan, Pace President Caputo and the rest of our delegation with the group of university officials at a central and historic location on the campus.

When we were finished in late afternoon, we headed to Wuhan airport to fly to our next stop, Xi'An, a couple of hours away.
