The 10th Annual Westchester County Film Festival Future Film Makers Division was a great success and a lot of fun for everyone. Held at The Picture House in Pelham on March 28, 2009, the festival screened 43 films from 16 competing Westchester County high schools.

The first place prize was awarded to Mike Gugger of White Plains High School for his film “Shut Eye.” Additional winners were Dylan Brown from Rye Neck High School and Patrick McDevitt of Eastchester High School.

The films were judged by a panel of filmmakers and professionals. The first place winner received a $1,000 cash prize and, for his school, a professional high definition camera package. The second place winners received a $500 cash prize and their schools received a $500 stipend to put toward film equipment of their choice.

The all-day event allowed students and teachers an educational and entertaining opportunity to share film and work ideas with each other. This year’s event was sponsored by Westchester County, The Picture House in Pelham, and the Matthew S. Hisiger Foundation.
