The Family Caregiver Support Program

Americans are living longer, and that is good news! It also means though, that many of us will be living with chronic illnesses that will require us to receive help from a caregiver or we will become the caregivers for a loved one. Taking care of an older relative or friend can at times, be challenging.  Whether you prepare meals for your father, drive your mother to the doctor, or provide 24-hour care for your spouse, you are making an invaluable contribution to you loved one’s life.  You need and deserve the most up-to-date information about community resources and services available to help you in your caregiving role.

The Westchester County Department of Senior Programs and Services’ Family Caregiver Support Program offers information and referral to a variety of services to help you, the caregiver, so that you can provide the best care to your older relative, while also taking care of yourself.

Our Family Caregiver Support Program offers free:

  • Caregiver Consultations - Our staff can meet with you to review your caregiving situation and provide guidance about your options.
  • “Caring” Newsletter – Our quarterly newsletter is filled with helpful information for caregivers.
  • Educational programs – Educational programs are held throughout the County to educate caregivers in all aspects of the caregiving role.
  • Older Driver Family Assistance Program- Are you concerned with the safety of an older driver?  Our program provides information of how to talk to the older driver about this concern and the services available to help make them a better driver.
  • Caregiver Resource Centers – These centers are located throughout Westchester to provide the information caregivers need to know to help them care fore their loved ones.
