Born July 1991,
Emanuel is a friendly and polite 17-year-old young man whose
favorite activity is family visits. His three wishes are to be
adopted, visit with his siblings and to continue his education
to gain vocational skills with computers.
Like many teens his
age, Emanuel enjoys video games and basketball. He thrives on
positive reinforcement and enjoys school and learning how to
repair computers. Emanuel is in the 10th-grade and receives
special education services. He performs at a fourth-grade level
in Math, Science, English and Social Studies. He is currently in
a residential program.
Emanuel has experienced significant past
trauma and loss, especially with the deaths of his mother,
brother and grandmother, which all occurred within a short
period of time. He has a mild psychiatric diagnosis, and takes
medication that has assisted him with transitions and feelings
of depression. Emanuel has regular individual and group
counseling to help him work through the traumatic losses he has
experienced. He has two younger siblings who have been planned
for separately. The three children enjoy regular sibling visits,
and continuation of these visits is important.
Emanuel is a
sweet teenager who is the type of child that a caring adult can
connect with. Emanuel needs a loving and caring family who can
provide him with permanency, and the structure, guidance and
strong commitment he needs to reach his
