COUNTY DISPERSES $200,000 IN REVENUE FROM BUS SHELTER ADS

Yonkers gets largest amount

Westchester County last year distributed $200,000 to local governments – their share of ad revenue from bus shelters within their boundaries. The largest amount, $43,533, was given to Yonkers, which has 69 bus shelters – the most of any locality.

“This is a partnership that helps the county, helps our local governments and helps our bus riders,” said County Executive Andy Spano.

The county currently has 317 bus shelters for its Bee-Line buses. The ads on the bus shelters generated $450,000 in revenue from April 2008-March 2009. After administrative costs are accounted for, the county government and the 22 participating local governments share the remaining funds.
