| Our mission is to work cooperatively with the Westchester County Department of Social Services agency to enhance mutual coordination, cooperation, and communication among foster and adoptive parents and agency staff. We will hold roundtable discussions with the DSS-- Foster Care Unit,to assist in implementing policies and procedures that directly affect foster and adoptive parents. Our association will assist the Westchester County DSS (Foster care unit) with foster and adoptive parents recruitment. Furthermore, we strive to stimulate the overall development of our foster and adoptive children . Many of our foster children are in Special education classes. We will educate ourselves on academic issues that impact our children in school. This knowledge will help us to advocate more intelligently on behalf of our foster children. | |
| Computer Equipment Needs: | |
| We would like to have 2 or 3 computers and printers to train foster and adoptive parents about the basic use of the computer in order for them to help the kids in their care with homework assignments. We would also like to use the computers to have prospective adoptive parents go online to access the Adoption Blue Book where they will be able to view the list of children who are freed for adoption. <br><br> Finally, we would like to have foster and adoptive children use the computers for home work assignments such as online research and also learn to type. |
