Girl Scout Samantha Ellis, a member of Scarsdale Troop 1577, volunteered her time during the summer and autumn of 2006 to blaze 2.5 miles of trails in northern section of Saxon Woods Park. The trail is known as “Loop 2.”

She also installed a native plant garden at the trailhead on Saxon Woods Road in White Plains.

Samantha’s efforts were for her “Gold Award” project, the highest honor a Girl Scout in her age category can earn.

"...Her blazing is excellent - scraped trees, easy to see, set so that after a turn, you can see the next blaze, blazes in opposite directions not on the same tree. I have seen adults who do not do the job anywhere near as well as she did."
