VERY IMPORTANT: If you are purchasing a new pair of skates at a retail store, be sure to have the skates sharpened. Most skates DO NOT come pre-sharpened. We suggest going to a sports shop that specializes in the sale of ice skates.

Rental skates are not included in the price for classes. Skates normally runabout one size SMALLER than a regular shoe size. It is always better to start with a smaller size and work your way up. it is easier to learn to skate on figure skates.

No bulky or thick socks. Your feet will feel best if you wear one pair of very thin, lightweight socks (suck as trouser socks) or tights. Make sure you have enough room to move your toes once your foot is properly laced in the boot, with any excess laces wrapped around the hooks. Allow 10-15 minutes to lace up.

Safety helmets are strongly recommended, especially for beginners. Ice approved hockey helmets with the HECC approval seal are best, but bicycle and ski helmets are fine.

We suggest close-fitting clothes but not tight pants or jeans. Sweat pants or warm ups are ideal. Don’t forget your gloves or mittens!

Cancellation, Refunds & Make-Up
Classes will NOT be cancelled due to weather unless the Playland Ice Casino closes. Cancelled classes will be rescheduled. Please call (914) 813-7059 or (914) 813-7061 for closing information no more more than two hours prior to the start of class.

Sorry, there are no refunds for missed classes except for illness. Fees will only be pro-rated when joining a session already in progress.
