The 2005 Golf Season

I hope you have done your winter warm ups and had time to practice your swing because  it's golf season at last. This season county courses have more amenities, benefits and services to make your golf experience more enjoyable. One of our biggest accomplishments this season is the completion of an extensive $2 million rehabilitation of Dunwoodie Golf Course, the first comprehensive overhaul of the course in about 20 years. Even if you don't normally golf at Dunwoodie, consider trying out the new and expanded tees. Since 2000, we have rehabilitated all the county courses.

If you are a loyal county golfer, you will be happy to hear that the Frequent Golfer Rewards Program returns this year, but we have tweaked it a little. This year, if you play 25 rounds you earn a round for free redeemable at any one of our golf courses.

You can now also save some money on the second round of golf you play -- if you are out on the course in the morning, you can play a second round in the afternoon at a deep discount.

I hope you will have time this season to get out and play on our courses often; maybe I'll see you out there. Have a great game!

Dunwoodie Extreme Makeover

The width of the eighth fairway at Dunwoodie was almost doubled in size, which required moving an entire hill.

This season will be an exciting time for golfers playing at Dunwoodie Golf Course because they can enjoy the new tees, greens and other facilities that were built or rehabilitated as part of the course's first major reconstruction in about 20 years.

The $2 million “extreme makeover” will give golfers who play the 125-acre course all new tees, three new greens, new cart paths.

The course is the last to be rehabilitated as part of the county's comprehensive multi-year plan to upgrade all golf facilities and make the sport more inviting and challenging to golfers. The other four original Westchester County courses have already received substantial upgrades and Hudson Hills, an entirely new course, opened last season.
