What is depression?

Everyone feels sad at some point in their life when they experience disappointments or when things go wrong. It is also normal to feel sadness after a death, especially of a close friend or family member.

But clinical depression is more than just feeling down. It is a serious illness that can leave an individual feeling intense sadness and hopelessness, and interfere with every aspect of life

Depression is a lot more common than most people think.

In Westchester County alone, about 43,350 adults will be affected by depression this year.
